Peru is at a pivotal moment in the advancement of digital health. Electronic health records (EHRs) should not become an additional administrative burden that distances healthcare professionals from their patients, but rather a tool that strengthens the quality, continuity, and timeliness of care. EHRs must evolve toward a broader purpose by becoming the core of an intelligent, predictive, and preventive healthcare ecosystem. Achieving this goal requires their integration with emerging technologies, particularly the Internet of Things (IoT) and its healthcare-specific application, the Internet of Medical Things (IoMT). However, this transformation poses significant challenges related to system interoperability, cybersecurity, personal data protection, connectivity, and the availability of adequate technological infrastructure.Downloads
