Abstract

The management of chronic diseases in older adults is predominantly focused on pharmacological interventions, often overlooking psychosocial factors such as the family environment. However, evidence has shown that family support significantly influences therapeutic adherence and health outcomes. At both international and regional levels, its importance has been recognized; nevertheless, in contexts such as Peru, the integration of this component into research and healthcare strategies remains limited. In this regard, there is a need to incorporate the family environment as a key element in the management of chronic diseases, promoting more comprehensive approaches to the care of older adults.
