Objectives: Determine the level of physical activity (PA) and the factors associated with the low level of PA among public transport workers in smaller motorized vehicles of North Lima. Materials and methods: Cross-sectional descriptive study. The population was constituted by workers of both sexes dedicated to public transport services by vehicles denominated "mototaxi", in the districts of Lima North, such as Comas, Carabayllo, Independencia and Los Olivos. The short form of the International Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ) was used. Results: Participants were 298 workers with a mean age of 35.21 years (SD = 11.32, Min: 16, Max: 68 years). Males represented 94% (n = 280) and women 6% (n = 18). The low level of PA was presented in 51.7% (n = 154); 40.9% (n = 122) Moderate PA and 7.4% (n = 22) High level of PA. The high level of PA occurred in a greater proportion in single people, while the low level of PA was predominant in the cohabitants (p = 0.028). The high level of PA was presented in the participants from families with a member who practiced sports, while the low level of PA was observed in workers from families without sports practice (p = 0.001). Conclusions: Workers of the public transport service in small motor vehicles presented low level of physical activity. The factors associated with the low level of physical activity were cohabiting marital status and the origin of families whose members do not practice sports.
